If you are well-adjusted to 2019 now and are looking for new, simple ways to improve your overall health this year, then look no further. Here are a few tips to improve your physical health, mental health and sleep by making small adjustments to your daily life.

1. Practice Yoga Every Day

Dedicate time each day to your yoga practice. We all know the slew of positive effects of yoga – reduce stress, increase energy and weight loss to name a few! Practicing everyday can sound daunting, especially for those of you that are new to your practice. However, it doesn’t have to be an hour and a half at your local studio every Day. Recently on the blog, we highlighted a short yoga sequence for you. Simply having a few minutes to yourself and your practice a day will have great benefits for your overall health. Try to do this first thing in the morning, before bed or even on your lunch break.

2. Be Mindful Of Screen Time

The blue light that is emitted from our cellphones and computers can cause digital eye strain and negatively affect our sleep. Digital eye strain can cause physical discomfort when exposed to a digital screen for an extended period of time. Luckily, with a recent iPhone update, you can track your screen time for the day and set limits for yourself. Another way to help combat discomfort is with blue light blocking glasses. Simply keep a pair of eyeglasses at your work desk to slide on for the day or when you’re feeling any physical discomfort. Finally, be sure to power down your phone, laptop or tablet at least an hour before you go to sleep to ensure the blue light isn’t affecting your sleep.

3. Move More and Drink More Water

We’re sure this isn’t the first (or the second) time you’ve heard these tips! But it’s because they’re useful and important. Create a routine for yourself to move everyday, whether it’s through yoga or a brisk walk at lunchtime. Moving for about 30 minutes a day is a great habit to start. This can help improve your mood and gain strength.

Drinking a gallon of water can help manage weight, prevent physical pain like headaches and cramps, and can help boost your immune system. What a great bonus to help keep your overall health in check this year!

4. Listen To Your Body

Keep in mind with all of these tips to listen to your body! Do what makes you feel best and makes your body happy. Eat the foods that fuel you, continue the habits that make you feel strong and satisfied, and do activities that you actually enjoy. We have a great in-depth article on the blog about self-love. The main things to remember are to use positive self-talk and to respect your body every day to improve your mental health.
