Lauren Eckstrom instructs Child's Pose (Balasana), a level 1 resting posture. Child's pose is a restorative posture used as needed to rest throughout class. It has tremendous therapeutic benefits as well. It gently stretches the hips, thighs, ankles and releases the spine. Also by resting the forehead on the ground you can greatly reduce stress and anxiety. If you are a complete yoga beginner or an advance practitioner this is a favorite pose that never gets old.
*Modification: If your knees or ankles are tender you could modify this pose by rolling a blanket up and placing it on the back of your legs between your calves and hamstrings towards the back of your knees.
