Reverse Prayer – Reverse Anjali Mudra

Reverse Prayer or Reverse Anjali Mudra is a great way to open your shoulders. You will find Reverse Prayer as an arm variation added to many Standing Yoga Postures.

Steps

Step 1

Extend the arms out to shoulder height on either side of you. Rotate the triceps so that the palms of the hands face backwards. The thumbs face down towards the ground.

Step 2

Bend the elbows and bring the palms of the hands together behind the back.

Step 3

Lift the elbows up so that the outer edge of the pinkies are between the shoulder blades. Press the palms into one another as you press the pinkies into the back.

Step 4

Draw the shoulders away from the ears. Lengthen the spine.

Step 5

Engage the belly slightly by drawing the navel in and up towards the spine.

Step 6

To release, slowly take the palms of the hands apart from one another and bring the arms alongside the body
